Area Alumnae Director
Summer is an alumna of the Beta Delta Chapter at the University of South Carolina. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice/Criminology, a Master's in Political Science, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Public Policy. Summer previously served in multiple Delta Zeta volunteer roles including SC State Alumnae Chairman, College Chapter Director (Beta Delta), Columbia Alumnae Chapter President, and Programs Advisor (Beta Delta).
Summer serves as the Associate Director for Continuing Education and Conferences at the University of South Carolina. She also teaches U101 to the Freshman during the fall semesters.
State Alumnae Chairman, North Carolina
Sara was inducted into the Zeta Lambda chapter of Delta Zeta at ECU in the spring of 1998, where she graduated with a BS in Elementary Education. A lifelong learner, she holds a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from NCSU, a Master's of School Administration from Campbell University, a Master's in Special Education from WCU, and a Racial Equity Studies Certificate from ECU. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctorate in Organizational Learning and Leadership at UNC Chapel Hill.
Professionally, she is the Director of Exceptional Children and Academically/Intellectually Gifted Programs for Chatham County Schools. She is also a dedicated mother to three daughters, ages 14, 17, and 20, who are active in church, dance, and sports.
In her personal time, Sara enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her dogs. With a year of service on the NC State Alumnae Board, she is excited to take on the role of NC State Alumnae Chair for Delta Zeta and contribute to the growth of our alumnae community.
State Alumnae Chairman, South Carolina
Karen is an Alpha Gamma (University of Alabama) alumna. She has worked in education as a teacher, curriculum coordinator and in university career services. Karen has previously served on the board of the Service League of Natchitoches. She enjoys volunteering and serving on the board of the York County Master Gardener Association, as well as playing mah jongg and pickleball. She currently serves as the DZ State Alumnae Chairman for South Carolina and has served in the past as secretary on the SC DZ State Alumnae Board . Karen has a son, Jake, who lives and works in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as a commercial real estate agent, and a daughter, Sara, who is a recent graduate and alumna of the Sigma chapter at LSU. She lives in Fort Mill with her husband, Chris.
State Alumnae Chairman, Tennessee
Doretta was initiated into the Theta Xi chapter at Glenville State University. She has served Delta Zeta in countless volunteer roles including multiple collegiate advisor roles, several local alumnae chapter roles, various committees, and most notably as a Past National Officer holding the role of National Vice President of Alumnae. Doretta also won the Achoth Award in 2023.
She is a graduate of GSU with double majors in Accounting and Management and triple minors in Music, Political Science, and Economics. She is also a graduate of Marshall University with an MBA, and West Virginia University with a Master of Human Resources. Doretta is currently studying law as part of the MIT Open Courseware Program.
Professionally Doretta has worked as a corporate accountant, Entertainment Agency owner (having toured the Middle East on a USO tour for our troops), co-owner of a landscaping company, and private piano teacher.
Doretta loves anything animals, Football, and music, especially hair metal.
She is the proud mother of an adult daughter Lauren that is set to be an alumna initiate Spring ‘25. She loves her fur babies very much and is passionate about our
sisterhood striving to create an amazing alumnae experience in Tennessee.
Sisterhood Engagement Coordinator
Rebecca Cheek is a transplant from Alabama, currently living in South Carolina. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (Lambda Kappa, pledge class 2004). She has a background in manufacturing of drug delivery systems, quality assurance management in chemical manufacturing, and yoga teaching/assisting. However, she is currently taking a pause in her professional career to raise her children and trying to figure out what she wants to do when she (really) grows up. In the meantime, she’s actively volunteering through multiple organizations including the New Member Educator Advisor and Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Advisor for the ladies of Beta Delta at the University of South Carolina. She's currently a member of the Columbia Area Alumnae Chapter. Rebecca also has past experience with chartering an alumnae chapter. While living in Birmingham, she along with five other sisters, worked to charter the Birmingham Area Alumnae Chapter in 2010. Besides chauffeuring her kids around Lexington County, Rebecca enjoys knitting, dabbling in watercolor, meditative walks, and listening to podcasts.
Public Relations Coordinator
Jenny graduated with a BS Biology/Business Administration Minor from East Carolina University (Zeta Lambda, 1998). She has entrepreneurial business experience and the creativity it takes to reach an audience. She started her first business in collegiate-level tutoring while a sophomore at ECU. Jenny lives in Greenville NC and currently serves on the executive board of the Greenville NC Alumnae Chapter as VP of Membership, temporary VP of Programming and has established Collegiate Relations with the local Zeta Lambda Chapter. A lover of social media, she enjoys promoting all DZ Area III Alumnae Chapters and getting creative with Canva graphics software to make each chapter shine!
Finance Coordinator
Amanda is an alumna initiate of the Beta Delta Chapter at the University of South Carolina. She is passionate about life both on land and water. Whether she's playing tennis, sailing across the serene waters of Lake Murray, hiking through beautiful trails, or camping under the stars, she thrives in the great outdoors. Recently, she discovered a new love for zip lining, which has added a thrilling twist to her adventures!
At home, she shares her life with four rescue pups who fill her days with joy and laughter. She is also fortunate to have a wonderful fiancé who shares her passions, making every outdoor escapade even more special.
Currently, she works at the University of South Carolina in University Development, where she also serves as a Staff Senator. Her career has evolved significantly; after an extensive background in Environmental, Health, and Safety, she took a leap of faith in 2022 to pursue community service and philanthropic roles. This journey has brought her immense happiness and fulfillment, allowing her to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
